About Me

Hi, my name is Rita.
On this website I want to share some stories of my travels and hopefully inspire people to follow their own adventures.

I grew up in a tiny village in the very east of Austria, with only about 350 people living there.
It took me a while to discover my passion for traveling. After starting with short city trips, my love for nature drew me to something else.

After 3 ½ years of studying in Vienna to become a primary school teacher, I decided to go on a longer journey – my first real big adventure. Without any previous knowledge about hiking long distances I set off to reach another continent by foot.
It took me over six months to walk all the way through Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France and Spain to finally reach Morocco.
This trip changed my life. From now on my little village would never be enough.

About two years later, in the spring of 2016 I set off for my first cycling tour from Austria to Istanbul with one of my best friends.
From November 2016 to February 2017 I cycled solo through Southeast Asia (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia & Malaysia).

And then it was finally time for the Big One…

In March 2019 I started my biggest adventure yet: cycling around the world.
Without a set time frame or the pressure to cycle every meter, I set out to reach New Zealand at some point.

Before the pandemic hit the world, I managed to cycle, hike and paddle 10.000+ km through 18 countries.

Nowadays I’m either working for my parents in the Austrian countryside or living and working in the Tyrolian mountains, while in between exploring the world as much as I can.
